Beer Kitchen

We had a delicious dinner at the Beer Kitchen in Westport. It is our 2nd visit, the first being last Sunday for brunch. Last week, I had the best turkey sandwich of my life. This time, oven fried chicken with roasted brussel sprouts and an itty bitty Guiness. For dessert, Ed & I shared a Mini S'mores Pots de Creme. If you come to visit, we are so going to eat here.

Strawberry Scones

Strawberry Scones. I decided to forgo the traditional triangle shape and just use round biscuit cutters. Next time, I may add a nice glaze.

Orange Pound Cake

I tried a new recipe for Orange Pound Cake. I found 2 recipes and did a little frankenstein. It is really good, if you cannot tell from the pics below. It made 2 loaves, and Ed managed to eat one by himself.

Can you see the flecks of orange zest? The aroma alone was enough to make the mouth water.

Did a little shopping at Osceola Cheese on the way back from Springfield on Tuesday. Now, what to do with all this yummy goodness.

Tea Party

I had to cater a 4 year old's tea party this past weekend. I did 24 mini cupcakes, 8 vanilla, 8 strawberry and 8 chocolate. All had buttercream frosting, but the client wanted lavendar, light blue and pink frosting. For the adults, Lemon Meringue cupcakes. A lemon cupcake, with a homemade lemon cream frosting and homemade meringue, lightly browned. Still waiting to hear how the food went over.
