Dutch Apple Pie

So, Ed decided it was a good idea for a "trial pie" before the Holidays. Dutch Apple Pie was the craving. The recipe comes from my MIL, whom I love dearly.

Start with 6 cups of Apples, I used a mix of Granny Smith & Macintosh. Sprinkle with cinnamon, flour and sugar. The topping is a stick of butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar & 1 cup of flour.

I decided to use a deep dish premade crust. My pie plates are in storage & I was not going to buy another one. When I put the apples in & added the topping, the pie was unbelievably tall. Knowing that it was going to sink, which meant drips of deliciousness, I put it on a parchment paper covered cookie sheet before putting in the oven. 15 minutes at 350 & then 1 hour at 325.

Ta Da - here is my finished pie. Of course, I do not eat pie, so will have to wait for Ed to get home from the Chiefs game to taste test it. This will be dessert after a dinner of roasted pork loin & Yukon Gold potatoes.
